About Us

As former competitive athletes ourselves, we know firsthand that athletes have unique needs that traditional medical services and treatment programs are often unable to appropriately address. Athletes often suffer delays in receiving nutritional support or treatment due to stigma, privacy concerns, fear of losing opportunities and other logistical challenges, such as demanding training and travel schedules. We love that telehealth treatment can address privacy concerns while improving access to specialized care providers.

We first met as founding leaders at the nation’s leading virtual eating disorder treatment program, where we quickly bonded over our passion for caring forathletes needing support with their nutrition and health. In our respective roles, we developed the nutrition and medical arms, and led development of the company’s athlete treatment protocols. Through collaboration with numerous sport organizations nationwide, we saw the urgent need for specialized support for athletes of all types - from those needing some advice on how to fuel for their next game, to those struggling with significant eating disorders. Our overall mission is to provide you with cutting edge, compassionate, comprehensive nutritional and medical care in order to maximize your overall health and athletic potential.

We look forward to meeting you!

Meet our Leadership Team

Katherine Hill, MD - Athleat Health

Katherine Bell Hill, MD, FAAP

Hi there! I’m a board-certified physician with a passion for supporting athletes’ health, nutrition, performance, and overall well-being. I first became interested in athlete health and nutrition when I was a Division I swimmer. I observed that disordered eating and weight pressures were rampant across athletes in multiple sports, which inspired me to embark on a research project on disordered eating and its impact on health in Division I athletes. It was through this research that I first became interested in the phenomenon now known as RED-S, as well as eating disorders, which inspired me to go to medical school and pursue this field.

After medical school and residency training, I joined the clinical faculty at Stanford in Adolescent Medicine, where I was able tolearn from top experts in the field of eating disorders. During my time at Stanford, I had the privilege of leading the medical student and resident clinical rotations in adolescent medicine, and I was humbled to receive several teaching awards for my work with students.

Before co-founding AthlEat Health, I was the lead physician at Equip Health, where I had the incredible opportunity to help shape the company’s medical model and lead the Med-Psych team, helping it transform from a humble new start-up to a national leader in eating disorder care. Along the way, I’ve also had the chance to serve as an expert contributor to a variety of national publications, including the Wall Street Journal, CNET, Washington Post, Parents, Insider, Well+Good, and VeryWell.

The combination of my experience as an athlete and a physician has informed and shaped my passion for caring for athletes and understanding the unique challenges they face. I take an evidence-based approach to medicine, though what truly excites me is connecting with each patient as an individual. I love working together to create a personalized treatment plan that honors their whole person—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Megan Hellner, DrPH - Athleat Health

Megan Hellner, DrPH, MPH, RD

Hi! I’m Megan, and I’ve been a registered dietitian in the eating disorder space since 2003. Along the way, I earned my Master's in Public Health with an emphasis in epidemiology, and in 2013, I completed my Doctorate in Public Health with a focus on preventive care. Early on in my dietetics career, I developed a love for supporting athletes who were struggling with problematic or disordered eating behaviors. Soon after, I served as the sports dietitian at the University of San Diego (NCAA Division I), which then led to my work closely with numerous sports organizations across the country, both as a clinician, and delivering education on prevention and treatment of eating disorders and REDs in athletes.

Over the past 20+ years, I served as a founding dietitian for several eating disorder programs, and most recently, as the Head of Nutrition and Physical Activity Research at Equip Health. There, I led the development and scaling of the nutrition team, developed clinical nutrition protocols, and created treatment programming specifically for athletes.

I’m deeply passionate about helping athletes overcome their challenges with nutrition so they can properly fuel for both peak performance and longevity in (and out of) their sport. I also love guiding athletes through the process of reconciling food and body image issues, especially as they navigate the different stages of their athletic careers—whether that’s competition, off-season, injury, or even retirement from sport.
